Spaces designed with the end user in mind
Aether is an interior design studio rooted in minimalism, material clarity, and quiet expression. We create spaces that feel considered, calm, and wholly human.
Studio ethos
At Aether, we believe in purposeful restraint. In a world overwhelmed by excess, we pare back to what matters most — natural light, honest textures, and human scale.
Our work isn’t about filling rooms. It’s about crafting atmospheres. Every project begins with a question, not a blueprint. We seek to understand the emotional potential of a space and let that guide the form it takes.
The founder
Led by a love for the essential
Founded by Nzau Ngemu, Aether Studio is the culmination of a quiet obsession with balance — between softness and structure, space and soul.
With a background in Interior Architecture / Design / Styling, Nzau Ngemu has spent the last 18 years refining a practice that places clarity and intention at its center.
What began as a personal exploration of minimalist living has grown into a studio recognized for its depth, calm, and restraint. Every detail — from the curve of a fixture to the weight of a handle — is considered, curated, and intentional.
Aether remains small by design. We collaborate with a trusted network of craftspeople, artists, and consultants, ensuring each project feels cohesive, intimate, and quietly luxurious.

Awards
(03)
While we don’t design for accolades, it’s an honour when thoughtful work finds thoughtful recognition.
Over the years, Aether has been acknowledged by leading design institutions and publications for our commitment to restraint, craft, and context-driven design. Each award is a reminder that simplicity, when done well, resonates.
The team
Design is personal — and so is our practice.
At Aether, we believe that spaces reflect the minds and hearts behind them. Our team brings together a shared philosophy of restraint, clarity, and human-centered thinking. Each member brings a unique lens, but we move as one — collaborative, curious, and quietly rigorous.
Design approach
Process rooted in clarity
Every project begins with listening. To the architecture, to the light, and most importantly, to the people who will inhabit the space.
We don’t come with a fixed style — we come with questions. How should the space feel? What kind of rhythm does it need? Where can we create calm?
From concept to installation, our process is transparent and thoughtfully paced. We sketch, source, refine, and rework — always in dialogue with the client and context.
